Temuera Derek Morrison MNZM, (born 26 December 1960), is a renowned New Zealand actor who initially became well-known in his native New Zealand for playing Dr. Hone Ropata on the soap opera Shortland Street. He is highly praised for his portrayal of Jake The Muss Heke in Once Were Warriors (1994) and its sequel in 1999. Morrison gained international fame through his roles in the Star Wars franchise, where he portrayed Jango Fett and his genetic clones, such as the clone troopers and Boba Fett. He debuted as Jango Fett in the 2002 Star Wars movie Attack of the Clones. Morrison voiced Boba Fett in the 2004 re-release of The Empire Strikes Back, various Star Wars video games, and portrayed Boba fully in the second season of The Mandalorian (2019–present) and the spin-off show The Book of Boba Fett (2021–2022). In 2022, he had a recurring role in the black ops thriller series Echo 3. He provided the voice for Chief Tui, Moana's father, in the Disney film Moana (2016), and for his role as Tom Curry, father of Arthur Curry, in Aquaman (2018), The Flash (2023), and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023). Early life Born in Rotorua on 26 December 1960, Morrison hails from the North Island of New Zealand. He is the son of Hana Morrison (née Stafford) and musician Laurie Morrison. He is Māori, of Te Arawa (Ngāti Whakaue) and Tainui (Ngāti Maniapoto, Ngāti Rarua) whakapapa, and also has Scottish and Irish ancestry. He is related to performer Taini Morrison (sister) and musician Sir Howard Morrison (uncle). He attended Wesley College in Auckland and Western Heights High School in Rotorua for his secondary education.
